IBM jStart at CloudFoundry Summit 2015
Reflecting on the recent CloudFoundry Summit in Santa Clara, California May 11-12, it is apparent that Platform as a Service (PAAS) is being heavily adopted by both large and small companies. What a change from two years ago at the first CloudFoundry Summit which felt like a large meetup with a couple of vendor tables around the room and most attendees were involved in the development of the platform. Fast forward to May 2015, there were over 1500 attendees and companies were either using a PAAS or seriously evaluating the use. It is clear PAAS fits a much needed niche for developers and Line of Business users who need faster software deployments!
The IBM booth was packed with customers asking how can IBM Bluemix help their businesses? The IBM jStart team was out in force staffing the IBM booth showing a number of customer demos and deep dives into Bluemix. A statement heard over and over is the intuitive nature and elegance of the Bluemix UI. As many already know, the jStart team is about engaging with customers, first and foremost! On the Bluemix UI front, I know firsthand the UI designers have been talking to customers from day one asking what worked and what didn’t! This is refreshing to see more IBM’ers out working with our customers and incorporating their feedback into the process improving products very early in the development cycle!!
For those that missed it, here are several hours of replays from CloudFoundry Summit 2015 to keep you busy! As always it was great to see everyone at the CloudFoundry Summit and I look forward to 2016.
