The IBM Emerging Technologies team has been active within the open source community over the past few weeks. Recently, the team engaged with the Project Jupyter governing body to help define an incubation process that provides the community a path to propose, create, and develop potential Jupyter sub-projects.

On September 29th, the Emerging Technologies team contributed three new incubator projects to the Jupyter community:

1. Declarative widgets (blog post), an extension for Jupyter / IPython Notebook to build interactive areas using declarative widgets.
2. Dashboards from notebooks (blog post), extensions for Jupyter / IPython Notebook to enable the layout and deployment of dashboards from notebooks.
3. Content management extensions (blog post) for Jupyter / IPython Notebook that support search, drag-and-drop, and importable notebooks.

Check out the blog posts and Github repositories to learn more about each project. You can also view the video below to see IBM Emerging Technology contributors give live demos of the new technology, or even better, you can try out the technology yourself at http://jupyter.cloudet.xyz.  If you want to contribute to the maturation of these projects, please feel free to open defects and send pull requests to each project on GitHub.
